AYSO (Soccer) Season Finishes Dramatically

The AYSO games this season at The Regional Park at Weston gave parents and fans a weekly treat that got better and better. You could see the efforts of the coaches and players build during the season culminating in truly exciting Playoff games. As the season progressed, the crowds grew in both size and enthusiasm. Each coach deserves a round of applause for nurturing their respective teams. The teams played with increasing discipline, determination and energy on their way to the Playoffs. Below, 11 year old, Isabella Jimenez makes the final save on the tenth and final penalty kick during overtime for a Mustang win on December 10, 2009. Get Your Hands Dirty For The Environment At Tequesta Trace Middle School!

Come to Tequesta Trace Middle School on December 12, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and see newly created “environmentally friendly landscapes.” Here’s an excerpt from the school’s flyer: ”Creating environmentally friendly landscapes is easy, inexpensive and fun. Using mulch and native plants, and putting the right plant in the right place conserves water, improves water quality and creates habitat for a variety of animals. We’ve done it, and we we want to show you how you can do it too.” AllaboutWeston will be there to cover the event with interviews and pictures that will be posted here on Sunday (12/13/09). I Need A Great Photographer! Whom Should I Call?

As an Event Planner in Weston for the last eight years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of photographers. Two local, Weston photographers immediately spring to mind: Mel at Englander Photography (954-434-1321) and John at Seberg Photography (954-659-1588. John is also an HD Videographer.). Both gentlemen bring a calm, inspired approach to capturing the moment. Not that they don’t have their animated moments : they really can make every person in your group photograph genuinely smile. Both men always put their subjects at ease throughout the photography session and party. They don’t just care about their work, they love their work.

Where Can I Host A Party In Weston?

Weston has a number of venues for parties both indoor and out. We’ve made a partial list of places to check out. Please add more! Outdoors at Tequesta Trace Park and Markham Park. Indoors at Bonaventure Country Club (954-389-2100), Hyatt Bonaventure (954-616-1234), Weston Hills Country Club (954-384-4600), and Bonaventure Town Center (usage is limited to residents of the Bonaventure section of Weston) (954-384-8330). Almost all of the restaurants in Weston will host parties as well. The East City Grille (954-659-3339) has a private room in addition to their restaurant area. Before you plan your event, make a budget first. Day time events usually are less expensive than evening events. Choose a theme. Your theme will help you in choosing the right venue. Do you need a view from your room of the outside or do you need the privacy of 4 walls? Would you like cocktails outside and meal service inside. If you’re having out of town guests, especially in the winter, you know they’d love to be outside for at least part of your event. Where have you hosted parties in Weston? How was the experience? What’s The Difference Between Grass Fed and Corn Fed Beef?

We just read the book “Omnivore’s Dilemma” by Michael Pollan. In the book, Mr. Pollan points out how much of our lives are corn based. Cows were not made to eat corn, but that’s the majority of their diet on the corporate farm. Cows were meant to eat grass. So what’s the difference in the quality of meat? Taste for one. Less saturated fat as well. And the grass fed cow is a happy cow. Is any of the beef offered by Publix or our restaurants in Weston grass fed? We haven’t found any yet. While grass fed beef is available at Whole Foods in Plantation and Coral Springs, why isn’t any available in Weston? Do you know somewhere closer to home where we can find it?

What’s For Lunch For The Kids At School Today?

We know “you are what you eat.” So, what are the school lunch programs offering our children each day? Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables? Lean meats and fresh fish? Or are they greeted with Ice Cream and offered Hot Dogs and Mac and Cheese? Schools launch children with habits for life. Tell us what your children are eating for lunch at school. They’re our future, let’s make sure that our schools are teaching them well.

Is Weston Business Friendly?

In fact, it’s possible to do almost all of your shopping and dining without ever “leaving the island.” It’s one of the great benefits of living in Weston. Should Holiday Lights Be On At 3:00 A.M.?

Drive around Weston at 3:00 a.m. and you’ll see condo and home associations footing the electric bill for holiday lights that no one sees. Now we know it’s no coincidence why we like to light up our world during the shortest days of the year: it keeps us from getting depressed! But when the electric bill comes, how much does this anti-depression therapy cost? Should timers or security attendants shut off the lights at midnight? How much money will your household and your association save if the lights don’t shine while we sleep? Of course, we’ll leave the lights on during the wee hours of December 25 just in case Santa is running behind schedule. Post your thoughts. Oh, and by the way, Happy Holidays!
